While studying Criminology and Political Science at Florida State University, I realized that I was thoroughly interested in the law. That interest took me across the country to San Diego, California, where I attended California Western School of Law. Upon graduation and passing the California Bar Examination, I made my way back to Florida where I Too sat for and passed the Florida Bar Examination.
I started my career as a litigator, representing major insurance companies in a wide variety of legal matters, ranging from property insurance, to construction defect and third-party liability claims. While I enjoyed those areas of law, I wanted to represent individuals instead of large corporations, so I joined The Ticktin Law Group, P.A.
At The Ticktin Law Group, I rose quickly to become a Junior Partner, representing a large portfolio of clients in many areas of law, including but not limited to, Mortgage Foreclosure. Defense, Family Law, Construction Law, Personal Injury, Homeowners Association Law, Consumer Law, and Landlord Tenant Litigation.
Thereafter, I formed The Law Office Of John A Wagner, PLLC. Here at The Law Office Of John A Wagner, PLLC, we have the goal of effectively and affordably utilizing our knowledge and experience to assist with our clients all of their legal needs.
I knew I was going to be a lawyer as young as 16. My decision was solidified during participation in the Law & Advocacy Program, National Student Leadership Conference, held at American University. Thereafter, I participated in mock trials and business law in high school, and obtained a position at Anthony Fiorello, LLC, a New Jersey law firm, focusing heavily in family law matters.
I am grateful to have been mentored in family law by Mr. Fiorello from high school through college, and even today.
I attended college at Fairleigh Dickenson University in Teaneck, New Jersey, where I majored in Criminal Justice. I was a member of the University Honors Program and was given the opportunity to present my honors thesis on Battered Woman’s Syndrome. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2007, magna cum laude.
After college, I relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, to obtain my law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law. I graduated with a Certificate in Family Law, and furthered my research in Battered Woman’s Syndrome, writing a research paper entitled “Battered Woman’s Syndrome: A Man’s Castle, a Woman’s Dungeon,” as well as writing in the area of juvenile criminal law, and earning a Deans List Commendation.
In 2011, I joined The Ticktin Law Group, where I handled a variety of litigation matters, including but not limited to, Family Law, Domestic Violence, Mortgage Foreclosure Defense, Criminal Law, Construction Law, and Contract Litigation. I obtained a vast amount of litigation experience, including being lead counsel in multiple trials in the areas of Family Law, Domestic Violence, and Foreclosure Defense.
In 2013, I was promoted to Junior Partner, and Managing Attorney of the firm’s Family Law Division where I managed approximately 200 cases, and was lead trial counsel in all facets of family law.
I resigned my position with The Ticktin Law Group, in July 2014, to join John A. Wagner, as a partner at The Law Office Of John A Wagner, PLLC. Having previously worked together for three years, John and I have developed a remarkable ability to effectively communicate and strategize with each other to create the best case plan for our clients’ goals and providing our clients with effective and affordable legal counsel.
